Mac Lipstick: Girl about Town

Last year I was very lucky in winning some blog competitions. One competition I won before Christmas was a Mac lipstick. I love so many of their shades and have a few on my wish list, but when it came to choosing just one it was hard. However after looking at swatches online of different Mac lipsticks I choose Girl about Town.

Along side the Mac lipstick I also got a few Christmas goodies. The chocolates were yummy and the bath bomb smells amazing.

Here is the LUSH snowman bath bomb. How cute is he!

Mac Lipstick - Girl about Town // Swatch

Some pictures above of Girl about Town Mac lipstick I got and also a swatch. I really love this shades and I'm so glad I choose this colour. It's a dark pink with hints of purple and is very bright and bold. I did think at first that it wouldn't suit my pale skin but it looks really good. I've already worn it a couple of time on nights out and it really helps to bring a pop of colour to my face.  It has a creamy finish which means it doesn't dry my lips out compared to other lipsticks. It's very pigmented so means you don't have to apply loads to the lips. I would say the colour last for 2-3 hours depending on if you have a drink or eat.

I'm so glad I've built up the confidence to wear more daring colour which are bright and bold as I wouldn't of chosen this lipstick. It's now one of my favourites in my lipstick collection although I don't wear it very much in the day, it's one that I reach for in the evening and when I go out at night.

What do you think of this shade?

I would also like to thank Megan from http://www.megssays.com/ for this gorgeous lipstick and the other goodies. She has an amazing blog, feel free to check it out.

Urban Decay Smoked Eye Pencil Set

L-R // Uzi-Empire-Demolition-Mainline-Zero-Smog

I've never been one to explore with different colours of eyeliner. I'm the sort of person who sticks to black and that is it. Until I got this Urban Decay set. Which I was lucky enough to win in June/July? Taking a guess there.

I have to say I haven't tried out all the shades but the main ones that I have tried out are Zero, Smog and Empire. I think that these are a great set to get if you wanted to explore more with eye liner colours. You could creating some really nice looks with these and also I feel that there are some perfect shades for the autumn/winter season in this set
I find the eye pencils aren't harsh on your eyes when applying and glide on a treat. They have a soft creamy texture which is the reason they are so easy to apply.
They have a beautiful bold colour pigment and last for a while on the eyes. I used smog a lot in the summer and it went well with my MUA undress me too eyeshadow palette. I do plan on using the other colours more this A/W and try and get out the habit of using black eyeliner.

From what I've used/tried so far it's a great set and I love the fact it's so quick and easy to apply compared to other eye liners. The colours don't fade as fast nor smudge in the corners of my eyes compared to others.

Have you tried Urban Decay smoked eye pencils? If so what do you think?

Review: Victoria Secret's Fragrance Mists

Coconut Passion - vanilla & coconut // Love Spell - cherry blossom & peach

While I was in duty free in September I got a gift set of Victoria Secret's fragrance mists. Now I've always wanted to try some Victoria Secret's products so when I saw a set of 5 I had to get them! I haven't really tried them all yet but Coconut Passion and Love Spell are the ones that I have used the most.

These are cute little 60ml spray bottles which I think are handy for your handbag and to take out on the go. You only need to use a little bit as it is quite a strong smell. I love the Coconut Passion fragrance mist which is weird as I'm normally not a big fan of coconut but together with the hint of vanilla it really goes well together. Love Spell has some of my favourite smells in, I absolutely love the smell of peach and with the added cherry it smell divine! I normally spray these on after I've had a shower and use it as a perfume spray for the day. They both smell very refreshing and Love Spell smells very fruity.

I will be repurchasing these two in bigger bottles when they run out and I'm definitely thinking about getting more products from the Victoria Secrets range.

What Victoria Secrets products have you tried?

Healthworker Footwear Review: Part Two.

A couple of weeks back I made a posts about receiving some new work shoes. (see here)
I've been wearing them for nearly two weeks now, enough time to test them out and see how I really feel about the shoes overall.

When trying them out for the first couple of days they did take a bit of getting used to as they have a higher heel that what I'm used to and felt heavier on my feet. Also it was really weird as when walking in them I seemed to feel like I was bouncing. But after awhile I got used to the "bouncing" feeling and it just felt normal. I'm so grateful for the stretchy material at the back of the heel as I've never got any blisters with these shoes. I always dread buying new work shoes normally as I know the first week is going to be painful and blisters will appear. With my new Magnum work shoes I have no pain at all which is a BIG relief.

The only problem I've really had with my Magnum work shoes are that after a week or so they have scuffed at the toes. Now it's probably just me being clumsy at work with the trolley, but I was a bit upset that they had scuffed so quickly. I'm going to get something to clean them up as they are too comfortable to just stop wearing because of a scuff, other than that I've had no problems.

I have to say overall I love them! At first I was a bit put off by the look of them as I felt they weren't feminine, but I don't really care anymore as they are so comfortable that it overrides the look factor of it. I've had comments of members of staff saying how comfortable they look, and they really are! With any other work shoes when I come home my feet are really aching but with these I find although me feet still ache after work, they don't as much.

I never thought when reviewing these shoes I would fall in love with them and continue to wear them after reviewing. I can't see me going back to my old work shoes, my Magnum work shoes are definitely the shoes I will turn to for every shift I work!

Healthworker Footwear Review: Part One.

I recently signed up with BloggerOpps to review some new work shoes from Magnum. The shoes are specially design for people who work in the health care industry, which was perfect for me as I work as a carer in a care home.

I've always had trouble finding shoes which are comfortable for me to work in, as being on my feet for 7 hours does take its toll. I've tried many different kind of shoes before and with most of them I've either had blisters or after a couple of hours my feet start to ache. Therefore I was excited when I was accepted to try them out as I'm always looking for work shoes which are comfortable as well as protect my feet.

I'm going to do this review in two parts. The first part will be my first impressions of them and then in a couple of weeks I will do another review after trying them out.

So I recently got my new work shoes, which didn't take long to arrive. My first impressions are that they are nicely package and inside the box they have some information about the care of the shoes. For example cleaning the shoes and drying the shoes, which is useful to know as I wouldn't want to ruin them! When I then unwrapped them my first thoughts were they weren't very feminine. They are a simple pattern with stripes across the front of the shoe. However I did like the fact the heel part of the shoe is made out of a stretchy material, which means the shoes are less likely to rub against my heel causing blisters.

Closer picture of the shoes

Overall my first impressions are positive, although the way they look doesn't appeal much it's all about the wear. I'd rather have a plain pair of work shoes that are comfortable then a pretty pair which cause me a lot of pain. I can't wait to try these out and I will let you know in a couple of weeks how I get on!

REVIEW: Benefit They're Real Mascara

I recently bought Elle magazine as their freebie was Benefit they're real mascara (40g). I've read so many positive reviews about this and wanted to see if it lived up to the hype. When applying the mascara it made my lashes look lovely and long, however I did screw up on one of my eyes the first time applying! The second time using this mascara I had no problems, practise makes perfect hey? The brush really helps to get into all the corners which with some mascara I struggle. It makes my lashes feel longer and a lot fuller. I have to say this mascara has become one of my favourites at the moment and I've had so many comments about my eyelashes.

Although I love this mascara there is a downside to it. It's a bugger to get off! I'm currently looking for a eye remover that actually works to remove the mascara effectively, as the first time trying to get it off actually hurt my eyes. Other than that I really like it and will definitely buy the full size product when this is finished with.

What do you think of Benefit they're real mascara?

Album Review: Paramore - Paramore

I've loved Paramore for many years now, they have been through many changes in the last couple of years due to two main band members leaving (Josh and Zac Farro). However they have pulled together and carried on creating great music!

This year they released their first album without the brothers which is self-titled, and it shows in the album that their music has changed. Before hand it used to be more rocky whereas now they has more upbeat songs such as "Still into you" and "Ain't it Fun".

When I first listen to the album I wasn't too sure if I liked this new side, as I do miss the "rocky" side of Paramore. However after listening to their albums a couple of times I began to love the new side of them, which is more quirky and fun.

Some of my favourite songs are, Still into you, Ain't it fun and Part II which is a sequel of Let the flames begin which they record on their Riot! album. This shows although they have changed their route they still have it in them to produce a song with a bit of rock.

The only bit of the album I don't like is the interlude which I feel are a bit random and could really do without, as they are short and I don't find relevant.

I would recommend having a listen, although some Paramore fan may not like the change, I love it!
I'm so glad that they have carried on with Paramore as I've loved them since their early years. I definitely look forward to hearing what is to come from them.

Here is one of their songs to have a listen to.

What do you guys think?

Sample Review: Taylor Swift Wonderstruck Enchanted.

I recently got a free sample of Taylor Swifts new perfume Wonderstruck Enchanted via Magic Freebies Uk. (Great website for free sample you should check it out!)

The sample was a decent size as beforehand I've had little tabs for sample which I think is rubbish. However the 1.5ml sample is great and also has a spray applicator which makes it easy to try out and makes it last longer. I find it a great way to test out perfume to which I may buy in the future.

Moving onto the perfume as you can see from my previous post here I really like sweet floral smelling perfume and when I sprayed this sample I loved the smell. It a really fresh and sweet smell, the perfume is a blend of wild berries and sugar glazed petal. I would defiantly recommend trying a sample (not sure if there still is free samples going on).  It has made me think of buying this perfume in a bigger size as I love the smell and would be really nice for the summer.

Wonderstruck Enchanted is out in The Perfume Shop as of the 14th April and will be in Boot, Superdrug, The Fragrance Shop and Debenhams as of 1st May.

Has anyone else tried this? If so what do you think?
